Canvas Gradebook
Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the new Canvas Gradebook. I find it offers so much information that it overwhelms the student and clutters the grade feature. It have worked if every teacher utilized the same grading criteria, but because they don’t, students have to learn each teacher’s system each time. I don’t like the missing or late feature because it just highlights what the student already knows. If I am missing an assignment, I’m most likely going to know about it and won’t need a constant reminder on my Gradebook. The point system at the bottom is super confusing to me because every teacher grades their class differently. Perhaps, if each teacher were to use it as intended, it may work, but that would require teachers to use a very traditional grading model, which I don’t necessarily like. Ideally, the Gradebook would strictly be on a point scale with a tracker. I love this class’s grading scale because I know exactly how many points I need each week to get an A. It’s very easy to keep track of my progress and how to get ahead if I want to.
